Backdam and Bushcook Tour

An authentic  Guyanese farming and countryside experience, with fruit picking and sampling and outdoor cooking.

What to Expect:

• Spending the day at a local farmer’s home and farm,
• Learn about various Guyanese fruits, how to harvest and all you can eat fruit buffet.
• Walking
• Sun, rain and humidity

Tour Layout:

• Depart Georgetown and cross the Demerara River to the farming community of Canal number 1
• Visit the local farmer’s home and enjoy a welcome snack
• Walk or take the tractor through the farm
• The farmer will explain the various fruits, care of the trees and what to look for when buying.
• Fruit picking and sampling. 
• Relax in hammocks under a mango tree, while engaging in the bushcook (Outdoor cooking)
• Pre-ordered lunch and non-alcoholic beverage.
• Cricket and relaxation

What To Take

• Light comfortable clothing and comfortable sneakers or footwear
• Sunscreen and bug spray, umbrella, hats, raincoats
• Snacks
• Allergy medication or antihistamine, if needed. Or any other medication.

Rules and Guidelines

• Always listen to the Tour Guide and do as advise for you safety and enjoyment of the Trip.
• Keep all valuables on you at all times.
• Always wear seat belts in vehicles.
• Do not rush in and out of vehicles, boats or planes; ascend or descend in an orderly manner; wait until the person in front of you is seated or disembarked then enter or exit.
• When in any Touring Guyana Vehicle, keep all arms, legs and belongings in the vehicle, until told to disembark.
• Notify the Tour Guide if you cannot swim.
• When in the rainforest; do not pick leaves, flowers, berries or plants, you maybe allergic to.
• If you are feeling tired or unwell inform the Tour Guide.
• Do not litter, garbage bags are available, just ask the Guide.
• All safety guidelines are in effect.
