What To Expect:
- Travel from Georgetown to the Rupununi by road and modified minibus. (All night travel by bus).
- Various levels of Hiking on different terrains.
- Sun, rain or humidity
- For the Schomburgk hike; no toilets available (holes will be dug)
- Limited phone signal and access to electricity
- Indigenous style foods.
Tour Layout: Assembly Point; Cindy’s Bus Service at Regent and Oronoque Sts
Day 1
- Kurupukari crossing (wait for crossing at 6am)
- Pakaraima Mountain Inn at 8:30am for Breakfast and short hike
- Arrive at Manari Ranch at 11:30am
- Lunch
- Relaxation, or swimming
- Kayaking and Sunset Walk
- Dinner
- Overnight At Manari Ranch
Day 2
- Depart Manari Ranch at 6am and have breakfast on the go
- Pass through Lethem and arrive at the foot of the Kanuku Mountains
- Briefing for Schomburgk 3500ft hike (very challenging)
- Begin hiking at 7am; stops for snacks, breaks, flora, fauna and
wildlife observations.
- Arrive at base at 11:30am for Jungle lunch and relaxation
- Swim/bathe at the nearby waterfalls and continue hiking to the Mountain’s peak.
- Arrive at the peak for the sunset
- Set up camp for the night
- Dinner and stargazing
- Bonfire and stories
Day 3
- Have breakfast at 7am and begin hike down the mountain
- Rest stops
- Arrive at Kumu Falls at 11am for lunch and swimming/bath
- Depart for Toka Village at 2pm
- Siesta
- Pottery or Sunset Hike
- Dinner and Bonfire
Day 4
- Coffee at 5am and depart for Corral (possible anteater spotting)
- Engage in cattle activities, Milking cows, horse riding
- Return to lodge for breakfast and depart for Georgetown
- Lunch at Mabura HIll
- Arrive in Georgetown at 7pm
What To Take
- Light comfortable clothing or Dri-fit clothing and comfortable sneakers, take slippers or water shoes.
- Sunscreen and bug spray, Swim wear, travel pillow, umbrella, hats
- Headsets, ear pods, power banks, music and movies on phones or other device.
- Long sleeve and long pants for hiking and overnight camping (its cold)
- Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, hairbrush, cosmetics, toilet paper), muscle rub. Straps for knees and ankles.
- Allergy medication or antihistamine, if needed. Or any other medication.
- Avoid taking or wearing jewellery, watches, as they can get lost in the waterfalls or while hiking.
Rules and Guidelines
- Always listen to the Tour Guide and do as advised for you safety and enjoyment of the Trip.
- Keep all valuables on you at all times.
- Persons 15 minutes late for the stipulated time for the tours will be left at the hotel.
- Always wear seat belts in vehicles.
- Do not rush in and out of vehicles, boats or planes; ascend or descend in an orderly manner; wait until the person in front of you is seated or disembarked then enter or exit.
- When in any Touring Guyana Vehicle, keep all arms, legs and belongings in the vehicle, until told to disembark.
- Notify the Tour Guide if you cannot swim.
- When in the rainforest; do not pick leaves, flowers, berries or plants, you maybe allergic.
- If you are feeling tired or unwell inform the Tour Guide.
- Do not litter, garbage bags are available, just ask the Guide.
- All safety guidelines are in effect.
